Renting an apartment in Paris can be a very difficult thing. Lots of documents are required and if you are a foreigner you might never come up with what you are being asked for. You might find a room much faster if you decide to share a flat with someone already renting in Paris. If you are looking to rent a room in Paris or you want to share an apartment with French people for an unlimited or limited amount of time, and you don’t mind living with a roommate or two (the more roommates, the bigger the apartment—that can be a plus in Paris) here’s a place for you to check: colocation.fr. It is a serious website (in French) that is referred to in national newspapers and magazines and on the Paris City Hall’s website.

The site was first targeted to students but it quickly extended its services to everyone. With over 150 000 visitors per month, colocation is being used by single people or couples—married or not, with children or without. The flat-sharing business is sought after by people from 18 to 50 years old who are interested in it for reasons as various as saving money, not being alone, living a communal life or meeting new people.

L’Hotel Particulier Montmartre is a little gem, a unique kind of hotel, a place unlike any other that is located in Montmartre and that is probably most distinguishable for its charm. The hidden street to access l’Hôtel Particulier Montmartre is unbelievably fairytale-esque; its name is nothing less than le Passage du Rocher de la Sorcière (the passage of the witch’s rock!) The gate hides a beautiful garden—the kind you don’t find in Paris unless you own a hotel particulier or something of a certain opulence; it is designed by landscape artist Louis Benech who renovated the Jardins des Tuileries and the Jardins de l’Elysée (the gardens of the presidential home.) Last but not least, if you walk through the Passage du Rocher de la Sorcière you’ll pass by one of the oldest pétanque (bocce ball) fields in Paris, a place so typically French that you will have the quintessential French experience in just the blink of an eye.
Only Five suites in this hotel. Rates go from 290€ to 490€ in low season and from 390€ to 590€ in high season.
