Zef in Paris: Casual chic clothing for children.

Zef in Paris: Casual chic clothing for children.

Chic and fashionable Parisians dress their kids in Zef clothes. Designer Mariu De Andreis, the daughter of Italian fashion photographer Paolo Roversi, captures the perfect French bobo (bourgeois-bohème) look for her line of kids’ clothing Zef. The quality of fabrics, the elegant patterns, the ethnic touch, the casual yet sophisticated clothes definitely set this brand apart. It is classic and hip, timeless and modern. Sizes range from new born to 12 years old.
Also, the accessories are very tasteful and I can easily imagine grown ups shopping for themselves at Zef!

The Lazy Dog: art and graphic design bookstore in Paris.

The Lazy Dog: art and graphic design bookstore in Paris.

The Lazy Dog in Paris is an awesome bookstore focusing on visual arts. They sell books about illustration, graphic design, typography, advertising, identity and packaging, art, street art, photography, architecture, fashion and urban culture, zines and comics. They also sell limited edition t-shirts, goodies (stickers, cameras, helmets, toys…) and (signed) screen prints from various artists such as the amazing Parra whose color palette will most likely engage your attention in very pleasant ways and stimulate your creativity. I found Nathaniel Russell’s—one of my favorite artists and friend— illustrated “Listography Journal: Your Life in Lists”. You’ll come across books by Mark Ryden, Italian artist Blu whose painted wall-animation MUTO has been viewed over three million times on Youtube, and many more contemporary pop culture influential artists. The Lazy Dog bookstore has a gallery, located just around the corner from the main store, showcasing talents such as Steven Harrington, Parra, So Me (Ed Banger Records’ visual artist), La Boca Studio…

Ladurée: succulent macarons and beautiful tea salons in Paris.

Ladurée: succulent macarons and beautiful tea salons in Paris.

Created in the late 19th century, Ladurée—inventor of macarons—is one of the oldest Parisian tea houses. Today it counts several tearooms/pastry shops/restaurants in Paris and abroad. Ladurée is to Paris what sourdough bread is to San Francisco, catfish to New Orleans, BBQ to Texas and fried green tomatoes to the southern United States… It is part of the Paris’ culinary identity. As if Ladurée needed any publicity, Sofia Coppola’s visually stunning movie, Marie-Antoinette, made the Parisian tea house famous all over the world. Now the lines are even longer and sometimes stretch all the way around the street corner as if we were in cold war-era Russia. If you plan on eating at Ladurée on the Champs-Elysées I highly recommend reserving your table online. You can choose your day and time, and avoid the ridiculous wait in line. The online reservations will soon be extended to the other tea salons. Ladurée serves breakfast (morning pastries, bread, eggs any style, French toast, fresh fruit salads, juices…), brunch (it is served on Saturday and Sunday from 10am until 3.30pm and will cost you 35€) and lunch as well as dinner (main dish at 29€, menus at 34€ and 42€, club sandwiches from 15,50€ to 23€). Pastries and teas will coast you around 7€ each.
If you are visiting Paris in winter and wish to warm up in a cozy and elegant atmosphere, Ladurée is the place to be: it is sort of overheated and makes you kinda melt. And then you melt some more when you see the list of pastries.

Satellite jewelry stores in Paris

Satellite jewelry stores in Paris

It all started when ethnologist Sandrine Dulon traveled the world with a friend and came back with a collection of antique jewelry, semi-precious stones and other inspiring materials. First Sandrine Dulon made jewelry for her friends, then her work became increasingly popular and finally she met the person who launched her career: French Elle Magazine fashion editor fell in love with the Satellite Spring and Summer collection of 1988 and it made the cover of the magazine’s January Special Fashion issue of that year. Satellite’s new collections are bi-annual and always reflect diverse cultural influences.
