Maison de Balzac
This is the only home left in Paris of novelist Honoré de Balzac. A five-room apartment on the third floor of a house perched on a hill. While living there from 1840 until 1847 with his wife he wrote some of his most famous work. While most of the original furniture is gone, all his personal memorabilia, paintings and etchings, objects, manuscripts, illustrations and first editions allow a glimpse on the writer and the time he lived in. His office has been recreated and evoke best his intimate world.
Free access to the permanent collection when there are no temporary exhibitions. Temporary exhibitions are 4€.
